Onwards And Upwards For Ninajirachi With 'Pure Luck' Single

Is it possible to believe that Ninajirachi is only 17 years old? Nina Wilson, everyone. Musician and producer based near Sydney, Australia, finalist in Triple J’s Unearthed High competition in 2016 and currently riding a wave of support from her forward-looking legion of fans. Nina’s beguiling music has been described as ‘both bouncy and chill‘ by Purple Sneakers and as “music made in an ice cave” by TripleJ Unearthed. All while still in high school.

It's the new single ‘Pure Luck (feat. Freya Staer)’ which is doing such damage to the world of overproduced electronica with its music-box simplicity, uniqueness and mix of harsher low-end tones with bright, playful melodies. Think (very) Little Dragon. The vocals are expertly dubbed to judder with strained emotion at the track’s start, before the beat kicks in and Staer’s lead vocals enter, flowing beautifully over the easy, relaxed groove.

Counting Porter Robinson, Mura Masa and Flume as influences, Ninajirachi’s sound is both accessible and sophisticated, employing a wide range of tones and varied, complex rhythms.

“Freya and I have been friends since we were 10 years old," says Ninajirachi, "so to be able to work with her vocals on this song has been really special.”

Listen To Lonely, The Lead Single From Yoe Mase’s Debut Album

Yoe Mase is a young vocalist and producer with a bright future ahead of him, having already received significant support from tastemaker magazines such as Magnetic Mag and Nest HQ, and being described as “the epitome of modern progressive house” by YourEDM.com.

He has recently released his debut album, Life In Boxes, whose lead single - “Lonely” -  is a perfect illustration of Mase’s unique ability to marry sweet, tuneful vocals with club-ready production values. The song begins plaintively, Mase singing: “Sold my own soul to the devil/Said you don’t need your heart/In this world full of trouble…”, before building to an anthemic post-chorus break that boasts saw-toothed synthesizers and crashing, rolling drums.

With more than 380,000 streams in its first couple of weeks of release, listen to the assured yet exciting “Lonely”, below, and discover why Next HQ  has called it “the cross-section of beautifully electrifying and comfortably familiar.”

Husky Loops Sign To Alcopop Records For Debut Album

Husky Loops met in Bologna, Italy, while still at school. The members, Danio (vocals & guitar), Pietro (drums & samples) and Tommaso (bass), played in various bands, but only joined forces to form their ultimate creation fifteen years later when they relocated to London. After putting their debut track “Dead”online at the start of 2016 they immediately gained interest and attention for their unorthodox take on modern rock music, which was followed by their last single “Fighting Myself” late in 2016.

When asked about their name, the band answers that they were looking for something that no-one else had. But there’s more to it. They spent months putting random words together and thinking about the meaning that was formed when these words were combined. The husky dog is often associated with the internet meme “Pun Dog”, which depicts a husky with animal-themed puns and anticlimactic punchlines. They liked the fact that this wasn’t the sort of imagery associated with a rock band, and due to their fascination with sample culture and hip-hop, the word “loops” was also a natural part of their vocabulary. When combined they realised that the word husky became an adjective meaning “gravelly” or “raspy”, and that the combination of the two words could also mean “rough repetition” - and so the name Husky Loops was born.

A band with diverse inspirations, they name influences ranging from Black Sabbath to Aphex Twin. The forthcoming self-titled EP, due out on April 7th through Alcopop Records, reflects the hard work and endless jamming sessions the three have participated in over the past 12 months.

H. Grimace Release Single From Forthcoming Album

H. Grimace have shared the new single “Land/Body” from their forthcoming album Self Architect.

The upcoming debut follows on from 2015’s sold-out I Am Material tape and the critically acclaimed Royal Hush 7”, which came out last year. Self Architect reveals a sharper and more emphatic tone to the band’s already relentless output.

Part shoegaze, part post-punk, the foundations are laid by the guitar interplay between Marcus Brown and Hannah Gledhill. Corin Johnson (bass) and Diago Gomes (drums) form a tight, powerful rhythm section. The new songs have been recorded and mixed with Rory Attwell and Ben Greenberg, formerly of The Men and currently in Sacred Bones-signed Uniform, who the band met and formed an instant connection with on last year’s US tour.

The lyrics are self-reflective and question contemporary social pressures to do with image, work, power and our connection to the land. The collaboration in the album's opening track  “2.1 Woman” features poet and artist Vivienne Griffin, who critiques the constant pressure exerted on women to create better and better versions of themselves.

Says the band of the new single: "Land/Body’ is a song which took inspiration from the idea that we are living through the end of nature and what changes have occurred from the likes of mass production and standardisation. It delves into the possibilities that this has affected our sense of belonging and roots as Hannah sings ‘Nothing thrives in uniformity’, truly resonating that notion."
